About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to take a lead role in driving complex, multi-site land development projects from early due diligence and planning through permitting and execution. You’ll serve as a trusted partner to clients, leading multidisciplinary teams, navigating development challenges, and building relationships with key stakeholders while having a direct impact on successful project outcomes. The role also offers the opportunity to grow the business, mentor emerging talent, and help shape the continued success of the practice.
Responsibilities
- Multi-site program oversight and management.
- Prepare contracts and track changes in scope for preparation of amendments as needed throughout the project.
- Coordinate with subconsultants to obtain proposals. Manage contracts, deliverables, and schedules to ensure timely delivery.
- Perform and oversee specific site development due diligence research including preparation of Site Investigation Reports and narratives, assisting with the development of conceptual site plans, coordinating site planning and design activities.
- Lead the entitlement and permitting process for developers, owners and/or end users. Project types may include multi-site roll-out programs, large format commercial developments, retail fuel stations and a variety of other land development projects.
- Develop and manage project schedules and budgets to facilitate timely project completion.
- Identify and assist clients with development constraints that include, but are not limited to, land use issues, utility availability, traffic impacts, easements, title exception documents, development fees, timing issues, project costs, and other development considerations that might affect the project.
- Act as the primary liaison between government agencies and the client, represents the client at neighborhood meetings and public hearings, and generally represent the client’s best interest in achieving their objective.
- Maintains and updates project tracking tools for effective communication and decision-making.
- Proactively identifies and navigates critical steps during the planning and design process and coordinates with the client and development team in order to procure timely issuance of construction permits.
- Ability to lead and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Active participation in business development activities to include exceptional client services to maintain repeat business and engagement with industry events and organizations.
- Works with marketing, BD team, and practice area leaders to lead BD efforts with new and existing clients when opportunities arise.
- Takes an active role in coaching, mentoring, and delegating responsibility to less-senior level team members.

Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of land development and entitlement processes, including specific experience with jurisdictions in Florida.
- Experience with retail store project developments and program roll-out management is highly desirable.
- Capable of leading presentations to government agencies and neighborhood groups.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
- Experience collaborating with and leading a team of design professionals.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience negotiating contracts and defining scope of work for a variety of project types.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master’s in Real Estate, Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or other related field, or six years combined similar work-related experience specific to commercial and/or retail development.
Experience
- Typically, 20 or more years’ experience with land development/entitlements, client management and demonstration of strong communication and coordination skills.
Beyond Base Salary
The estimated starting base salary for this role is $140,000-$150,000.
